Welcome

The HETERNA group (heterogeneous integration of materials at nanometric scale on silicon substrate)  is part of the Nanoelectronics Department at the Institut d”Electronique Fondamentale (IEF), a laboratory jointly operated by the CNRS and Université Paris-Sud, and located on the Orsay campus of the university.

Our research activity is focused on the elaboration and characterization of materials of IV-IV and III-V group semiconductors as thin films and nanomaterials on silicon substrate, for nanoelectronics, photonics and photovoltaics applications. The control of the structural quality such as interface structure and nanometric functionnalization play an important for device performances.

The mastery of the epitaxial growth requires a good understanding of the differents aspects of the growth (thermodynamics, kinetics, heteroepitaxy etc…). The heterogeneous integration of these materials in devices demands also to developp innovative methods such as smart surface structuration to favor the growth of high-quality relaxed or strained layers, and also the emergence of new properties.
